Deputy Pringle one of three opposition TD’s to respond to the Taoiseach’s nation address

Ocean FM’s Radio Presenter Mr. Niall Delaney talks to our Independant South West Donegal TD Thomas Pringle to ask him on the Taoiseach’s Address to the Nation.

Donegal Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle is one of three opposition leaders who will have a chance to respond to the Taoiseach’s Address to the Nation later today.

Three so-called ‘mini addresses’ will be made by representatives from Fianna Fail, Sinn Fein and the Dail’s Technical Group – in an effort to ensure the Broadcasting Act isn’t breached.

Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin will have a four-minute slot following the news at 9 pm – and Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams will speak for three minutes after the 6 pm news broadcast.

Seven of the 16 members in the Dail technical group expressed an interest in speaking for three minutes ahead of the news at 6pm – Independent TD for Donegal Thomas Pringle’s name was ‘pulled from a hat’.

All three will pre-record their addresses this morning and each will be played out later.

Deputy Pringle says” he thinks it is important that there is an opportunity to allow opposition politicians to respond to the state of the nation address by the Taoiseach“.

Deputy Pringle also states ” I have consulted some of the Independent TD’s who are also members of the Techinical Group but everything I speak about on the broadcast tonight will be my own WORDS……...……”
