Deputy Thomas Pringle talks to Highland Radio about delivering a TV response to Taoiseach’s address tonight before the 6:01pm News
- Updated: 5th December 2011
Donegal South West Deputy Thomas Pringle will be making one of three opposition responses to the Taoiseach’s Address to the Nation tonight before the 6:01pm News for a duration of approximately 3 minutes speaking time.
Last night in his address, the Taoiseach Enda Kenny spoke of a fragile economy that remains in crisis.
Three so-called ‘mini addresses’ will be made by representatives from Fianna Fail, Sinn Fein and the Dail’s Technical Group – in an effort to ensure the Broadcasting Act isn’t breached.
Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin will have a four-minute slot following the news at 9 pm – and Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams will speak for three minutes after the 6 pm news broadcast.
Seven of the 16 members in the Dail technical group expressed an interest in speaking for three minutes ahead of the news at 6pm, with Deputy Pringle’s name pulled from a hat.
This mornings broadcast,Deputy Pringle stated “that he doesn’t accept the government’s argument when they stated that we have no choice”
Deputy Pringle also states “I have consulted some of the Independent TD’s who are also members of the Techinical Group but everything I speak about on the broadcast tonight will be my own initiative which I hope comes across clear to the Nation”
