Thomas’s Amendments to Social Welfare Bill

Due to a prior engagement, Deputy Mick Wallace moved an amendment on my behalf which sought to target increases of child benefit to those who need it most.
Because of the inherently flawed nature of the social welfare system and the unfair distribution of resources in this year’s Budget, this amendment alone could not have change the consequences of past Government policies, but rather it serves as a lasting reminder of the detrimental impact austerity measures have on vulnerable people in society.
